Yes, it’s not April Fools day. A brand new Raspberry Pi board, lets take a look at this new board before delving into some of the specs and features that we know about.

Raspberry Pi 5 will work with a 5V 3A USB-C power supply, but its recommended that you get the Official 27W USB-C PD Power Supply
The new Raspberry Pi 5 has a 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz coupled with up to 8GB LPDDR4 RAM, the Raspberry Pi 5 is quoted as being able to deliver a 2 to 3 increase in CPU performance relative to Raspberry Pi 4. Alongside a substantial uplift in graphics performance from an 800MHz VideoCore VII GPU
There are 2 versions a 4Gb and 8Gb version.
The Raspberry Pi 5 has other upgrades to improve the I/O. The SD card now supports high-speed SDR104 mode doubling peak throughput.
The new Southbridge chip supercharges the I/O capabilities delivering twice the USB bandwidth and there are also two four-lane MIPI transceivers allowing higher resolution camera and display accessories.
We also have a user-accessible single-lane PCIe 2.0 interface which can be used to interface various types of hardware.
There are dual micro-HDMI ports that support up to 4Kp60, to use your Raspberry Pi 5 with larger displays at high resolutions.
The new chipset supports Bluetooth 5.0 and also dual-band 802.11ac wireless LAN.
Raspberry Pi OS will launch in mid-October, and will be the sole supported first-party operating system for Raspberry Pi 5.
